#   Hong Qu 

 



 Hong Qu is an [adjunct lecturer](https://www.hks.harvard.edu/faculty/hong-qu) at Harvard Kennedy School. As one of the first engineers on YouTube’s startup team, he designed key features including the homepage, user channels, and video sharing. Prior to joining HKS, he was VP of product at Upworthy and chief technology officer at Fusion Media. He was a visiting Nieman Fellow at Harvard in 2013 and is a graduate of Wesleyan University and the School of Information at UC Berkeley.

 Hong is currently a non-resident [fellow](https://pacscenter.stanford.edu/person/hong-qu/) on technology and race at Stanford's Center for Comparative Studies in Race in partnership with Digital Civil Society Lab and the Stanford Institute of [Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence](https://hai.stanford.edu/people/hong-qu) leading a research study on the impact of artificial intelligence on fair lending laws and practices.
